ACCA Staff Brings Holiday Cheer to Military Families at Bethesda Fisher House
This holiday season, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) staff took a meaningful step beyond their professional roles by volunteering at the Bethesda Fisher House. Known for its dedication to supporting military families, Bethesda Fisher House offers essential lodging at no cost for families while their loved ones receive medical treatment. On December 13, ACCA staff contributed by serving meals, assisting in the creation of holiday gifts, and hosting a spirited gingerbread decorating contest.
The Impact of Fisher House Foundation
The Fisher House Foundation operates nearly 100 comfort homes, significantly benefiting military and veteran families. Through its extensive programs, the foundation has saved families around $610 million in expenses related to lodging and transportation. Additionally, programs like the Hero Miles and Hotels for Heroes use donated airline miles and hotel points to support families visiting injured service members, providing vital opportunities to remain close during challenging times.
ACCA's Commitment to Community and Service
ACCA's involvement at Fisher House reflects its broader mission of community service within the HVACR industry. As expressed by Barton James, ACCA president and CEO, supporting service members and their families aligns with the association's values, especially during a season that emphasizes gratitude and togetherness. This initiative not only strengthens community ties but also showcases the spirit of service that defines ACCA and its members.
Invitation to Get Involved
As the good deeds of ACCA staff illuminate the path, the organization invites members and industry peers to engage in similar acts of kindness. Whether through volunteering, donations, or supporting local initiatives, ACCA encourages everyone to embody the spirit of service that contributes to the vibrant and nurturing HVACR community.
